O'Brian
O'Brian
O’Brian claims to be the King of Westhaven. That may be contested by a few other big personalities there, but he is one cool cat! O’Brien competes with his best friend Kezroy over who is the biggest cricket fiend or the better player. O’Brian loves to collect items that people bring to Westhaven, as if they help him hold onto the memories when the visitors are gone. He keeps a key on his wheelchair that opens a locked cabinet overflowing with mementos, pictures, and small items he has gathered. O’Brian loves to be showered with affection but can be shy about getting attention, and needs a little encouragement sometimes to participate. Sometimes he isolates himself, even in the midst of activities by having someone wheel his chair off to a spot at the side of the Fray House, where he gazes at the gate out into the outside world. When he does this it is good to approach him and draw him back into the fun. O’Brian has excellent receptive language but it is not clear what his expressive language is like because he does not speak. He communicates by gesturing with his head and nodding yes or no in answer to questions. He loves to be picked out of a crowd and pushed around the grounds while he directs you. When given a chance O’Brian will hide his handsome face behind sunglasses and a bandana or baseball cap, but his gorgeous smile flashes whenever he gets attention and affection.
