Kevin
Kevin
Kevin loves the swing set probably more than any other kid at Westhaven. He loves to grab a hold of a visitor and take them on his own little escapades and adventures around the grounds. Don’t be fooled, as all roads lead eventually to the swing set. When being swung he is very particular and loves to be in charge – he’ll demand you not speak and push with both hands! His silent bossiness is quite endearing and entertaining, but if his persistence is too much you can simply and clearly let him know you cannot swing him in the moment and he’ll reluctantly understand and go off to find the next possible swing pusher. Although he can verbalize, Kevin tends to communicate with gestures and pulling you towards the swing set or other activity that interests him. It is good to encourage him to use his words. He loves to greet visitors, is very curious, and is not shy. Kevin can be helpful to the staff with chores and understands quite a bit of what is being said. Instead of getting involved in structured activities, Kevin prefers to keep moving and seeking out a visitor with whom he can relate to 1:1.
